Celebrating 20 Years!

A grassroots effort led by six visionary and compassionate women in 1992 has blossomed into a grantmaking fund that has raised over $4 million used to enrich 350 local programs serving women and children in the greater Spokane area.  The collaboration between corporate sponsors, Pioneer Circle members, table captains, generous donors and community volunteers is a reason to celebrate.  Join the celebration of WHWF's mission at the 20th annual fundraising luncheon on May 21, 2012 and be empowered to make a difference in our community!

Table for 50? No Problem for This Table Captain! Print E-mail

roxanndempseWhen it comes to a passionate and consistent commitment to the Women Helping Women Fund, Roxann Dempsey is an exemplary model and premier table captain for the annual luncheon. The Director of Records Management at Eastern Washington University, Roxann has served as a table captain for all 16 previous luncheons and will continue her tradition this year by hosting five tables.

Roxann’s affiliation with WHWF actually started before WHWF became a separate organization. She hosted a table at a fundraising breakfast when WHWF was in its last year under the umbrella of the YWCA. “I was first invited to be a table captain by Marcy Drummond, one of the WHWF founders,” Roxann said. Over the years Roxann has hosted multiple tables at each luncheon and many of her table guests – including men - have attended for most of the past 16 years.

“Filling my table was an easy sell for me because of the mission of WHWF and its reputation for supporting women and children,” Roxann said. “So many people at my table have attended before and because they believe in WHWF.”  Roxann’s ongoing loyalty to WHWF is rooted in her admiration for the commitment of the board and community. “It is a sisterhood of support,” Roxann explained.

Roxann’s relationship with her table guests over the years is very personal. She sends out over 150 personal invitations to all her table guests and always includes the WHWF Mission Statement on each individual note.

“Women Helping Women Fund commends and thanks Roxanne for her continued support of our organization and the role she has played in making our annual luncheon a success,” said board president Trish McFarland.
