WHWF Annual Luncheon: A Record Breaking Event!

Over 2,300 people attended the annual WHWF benefit luncheon to support our commitment to the community and listen to keynote speaker Jeannette Walls (pictured above). We raised $300,146 at the event, with thousands more in donations  received since the May 5 event. This was the most money raised in the benefit luncheon's 16 year history. 100% of the funds will go to programs in Spokane County benefiting women and children as well as the WHWF Endowment, which reached $1 million this year.  We also announced  the names of the 2008-09 WHWF Vivian Winston Scholarship winners; three highly qualified and deserving young mothers attending local colleges. Thank you Spokane and all of the wonderful visitors from other communities!  Your generous spirit makes a difference in the lives of Spokane's women and children in need.  We love the way you care!!!

Trish McFarland, 2008-09 WHWF President

What's New at WHWF?

The Women Helping Women Fund is pleased to announce its Board members for 2008-09.  Incoming Board President Trish McFarland assumed leadership from Gail Stevenson at the organization’s annual retreat in June.  In addition, the board welcomed six new members and thanked four outgoing members for their contributions.

“The Women Helping Women Fund board is continuing its tradition of recruiting dedicated and talented women to continue our mission of empowering women and children in Spokane.” stated President Trish McFarland. “We are honored to have their leadership and know that the entire community will benefit.”  Click here to learn more!

 Quote of the Month

"My passion is caring about those who don’t have enough to make it through life in society.  It’s about poor people and families that need help raising their children. That’s why I come to work every day, that’s why I want to make a difference."
