This year’s event features a new and exciting format and location in honor of the organization’s 30th Anniversary. With a nod to WHWF’s long-standing luncheon program, attendees will:

  • Hear from Irin Carmon and Shana Knizhnik, authors of “Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg”

  • Discuss important issues affecting women and children of the Spokane community and learn about the organizations who are making a difference

  • Enjoy a performance by Spokane Symphony musicians

  • Toast to 30 years of WHWF and our members, partners and grantees who support women and children year after year

How does it work? 

By coming together with others and pooling our funds, we’re able to make an even greater impact. Collective Giving Members choose which issues will be the focus of the grant cycle and nonprofit programs that will receive support.  In addition to voting, Members are invited to participate in year-round learning and volunteer opportunities.

Keynote Speakers

Shana Knizhnik is a lawyer and author from Philadelphia. In addition to co-authoring “Notorious RBG” she was also hosts a blog responding to several dissenting opinions authored by Supreme Court  Justice  Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The blog quickly went viral and gained media attention within its first few days. 



Irin Carmon is a journalist and commentator, senior correspondent at New York Magazine, and a  CNN contributor. 

“Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg” was released in October 2015  and debuted at #7 on The New York Times Best Seller list.  In 2017, the book was named one of the top ten books for the 2017 Amelia Bloomer Book List (now RISE: A Feminist Book Project). The book was also nominated for the 2016 Alex Award and the 2019  YALSA  Excellence in Nonfiction Award.   

Ruth Bader Ginsburg was an American lawyer and jurist, serving as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1993 to 2020. She was the second woman to serve on the Court and  spent much of her legal career advocating for gender equality and women’s rights. She embraced her monikers, “The Notorious RBG” and “Shot Collar,” given for the way she styled her gown with an extensive collection of fashionable collars.

What about the WHWF Annual Luncheon?

WHWF is excited to say we are going back to an in-person event this year but in a different way for 2022 to ensure we can hold an event that manages COVID-19 restrictions and safety. It is also fitting that we create a unique, commemorative experience in celebration of Women Helping Women Fund’s 30th Anniversary! This year’s event features a new and exciting format and location.


This event is in lieu our beloved Annual Luncheon for this year. However, as with our Annual Luncheon, you will enjoy:

  • Networking with peers

  • Learning about the pressing issues affecting women and children in Spokane

  • Becoming part of the solutions our community needs


100% of the funds raised by this event will support our grantees and community-based solutions for women and children in Spokane.


We look forward to sharing this experience with you and hearing your feedback following the event.

What safety precautions will be taken?

We continue to monitor conditions and implement precautionary health and safety measures as the event date nears. WHWF is committed to maintaining compliance with local and state-wide health and safety guidelines, including providing hand sanitizing stations, enforcing food-handling safety directives, and adhering to the mask mandate. Further communications will be sent to registered attendees with updated details as necessary.

Can I attend as an individual (not a member)?

Yes! This event is open to all. The cost of the individual attendee is $135 per person.

How will I be able to contribute?

Individual donations can be made at the time of registration and during the event. You can also become a member to gain access to education about community needs and a voice in how we help fill them.


By becoming a giving member at $600 prior to the event, you will receive a complimentary ticket. By becoming a member at $2,500 prior to the event, you will receive three complimentary tickets.

What does attending look like for current Collective Giving Members?

One of the perks of your Collective Giving Membership is a complimentary ticket to the event! Supporting Members receive one complimentary ticket. Members who contribute $2,500 will receive three complimentary tickets. You should have received a promo code by email. If you did not receive an email, please contact the WHWF Office at


Members must be current on their membership contribution for 2022-23 in order to receive their complimentary tickets. If you need to renew your membership, you can do so at


If you will not be attending the event or will not use all of your complimentary tickets, let our office know at using the email above, and we will donate them to student groups.

I was previously a table captain at the traditional Luncheon, what does this mean for me?

Table Captains have been key to the success of this event in the past! There won’t be any tables this year, but we hope you will join as a Group Captain to help fill this event and raise critical funds to support local women and children! As an expression of our thanks, you will receive the following in support of your leadership efforts as a Group Captain:  

  • Reserved seats for you and your group  

  • Reserved VIP gathering area for pre-event networking 


All you need is a willingness to share your enthusiasm about why you support Women Helping Women Fund. Invite friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to join your group and create true change for our community.


We've set a suggested goal of 10 people per group, however, there is no reason you couldn’t invite a smaller group. You can register as a Group Captain at
